Our History

At Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center, we honor our rich heritage while advancing our enduring purpose: welcoming all to grow together in community and faith.

Long before Lazy F became a camp, members of the Kittitas Tribe traveled through Manastash Canyon to hunt and gather berries and roots. From 1892 to 1937, ranchers worked this land, raising hay and cattle to support their families.

In 1937, the Morris family founded Lazy F Ranch: the first dude ranch in Washington State that offered trail rides, hearty meals, and cowboy entertainment to visitors from Seattle. Our call to ministry began in 1954, when the Methodist Church purchased the ranch to provide Christian camping opportunities. Since then, Lazy F has continued to evolve to meet the needs of our guests while remaining rooted in our ranch heritage and Christian foundation.

In 1979, following a fire that destroyed our original dining hall, a building was quickly built to serve as our primary gathering space for almost 50 years. With the opening of Manastash Lodge in 2019, Ponderosa was reimagined as a dedicated place for meeting, worship, and community.

Manastash Lodge

The Need

Ponderosa is structurally sound, yet after nearly 50 years, its systems and fixtures are worn and outdated.

Renovating now ensures this valuable building will serve future generations while matching the design and beauty of Manastash Lodge.

Additionally, we are modernizing our meeting spaces to exceed guest expectations. Following the success of the Lodge, the new Ponderosa features expansive windows that bring the beauty and inspiration of the canyon indoors.

Building on Success

When Manastash Lodge opened in 2019, it quickly became the centerpiece of camp life. The Lodge hosts meals, worship, workshops, meetings, talent shows, and more.

The new facility attracted groups we couldn’t
serve before. Our guests are inspired by the expansive views of the trees and ridgeline through the garage doors.

Today, with healthy reserves and record revenue projected for 2026, we are ready to build on this success.
