Jumping Into The Unknown

Written by Marlee ‘Splash’ Smith: Lazy F Camp Summer 2019

Dear Future Camper,

Jumping into the unknown is equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. It is exciting because the possibilities are endless. You can have any experience and meet anyone, but that’s also the reason that it’s so scary.

When I applied to work as a counselor at Lazy F this summer I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I had never heard of Lazy F, never been to central Washington , and never even been to Summer camp. Regardless of all that, something in me (looking at you God) made me fill out that application and accept the position. I am so unbelievably glad that I did. When I was driving to camp for the first time down the windy canyon road my mind was racing worrying about if I made the right
choice or not.

As soon as I arrived at camp all my worries vanished and I knew it was going to be a fantastic summer. Everyone greeted me with open arms and made me feel right at home. Now as summer is coming to a close, and I am able to reflect on all of the amazing experiences I’ve had and people I’ve met, I know that I made the right choice spending the summer at Lazy F. I have grown spiritually, made great friends, and just overall had a blast this summer.

My biggest advice to any incoming camper or counselor is to jump into the
unknown with your eyes and heart wide open, because you have no idea what God has in store for you.
