We're changing the way summer camp staffing works. That is,
we're actively recruiting the best summer staff we can find and paying
them to work the summer for us. We're developing a quality set of
Christian, well-trained staff that just get better and better. We
want those who want to make a difference, those who have the skill, and
those who can show judgment. We're also looking put in a serious
effort to develop staff from within. That is, as you as a camper
get older - we want those with interest, skill, passion, and drive
to become the Christian leaders for tomorrow.
The Leaders In Training program is designed to help teens develop their leadership
skills, and then give them a chance to demonstrate them.
Teens will spend one week learning counselor skills, risk
management, 1st aid / CPR, and camp skills.
They can then volunteer to assist with a week of younger
camper programs like
Explorers. Returning LIT's may also have the opportunity to volunteer
with the Pathfinders Adventure, and
potentially Junior Wranglers.
This year Lazy F is hosting the program for Lazy F and Camp
Indianola (those from Ocean Park are most welcome too). In
applying you select the session and site where you would like to serve
for your volunteer week. Based on your interest you'll be placed
at the camp you'd like to be at. Then at the camp, based on your
interest and experience, you'll be placed in the session at you choice
camp.
So what's up with the application
process?
We
want LIT’s not to only come away with a camp experiences, but experiences
that can help you get a job later, so a separate application with references,
and phone interview are required before acceptance. Should you be
worried about the phone interview? By no means! One, it's a
great chance to practice for your next job, and two, we most want to
hear that you want to be here to make a difference for kids. If
you just want to hang out with friends - go to different Senior High
camp. If you want to make a difference for campers younger than
you - apply
